In 1982, Dr. Len Ray purchased 1 acre of land on Main Street in Ashland City, Tennessee. It was in the front of this property that he would found his dental practice within the walls of a 7-room office. Dr. Ray’s dental practice was founded on quality care and an empathetic approach to each of his patients.
After 8 years of practice, Dr. Ray decided that his practice had become too large to manage alone. The solution to his problem was a Kentucky dentist named Dr. Jerry Gilpin. Dr. Gilpin, a graduate of the University of Kentucky, College of Dentistry, became a partner at Family Dentistry. Together, Dr. Ray and Dr. Gilpin proudly worked side by side to serve the Ashland City community for decades. They oversaw two office expansions and built a staff upon the principles of honesty and integrity. Dr. Ray and Dr. Gilpin treated generations of patients and their families from Ashland City and the surrounding areas in Cheatham County.
In 2023, Dr. Jerry Gilpin informed his staff that he had decided to step down from his role as a partner and doctor at Family Dentistry. Dr. Gilpin began a search for his successor, but did not have to look very far. Dr. Gilpin chose Dr. Drew Schneider to take his place as partner in March of 2023.
Dr. Drew Schneider is the son-in-law of Dr. Len Ray and was born in Memphis, TN. After graduation from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Dentistry in 2019, Dr. Schneider began his career as a dentist with Aspen Dental in Lebanon, TN. When the opportunity to become an owner presented itself within his own family, Dr. Schneider was ecstatic to get to work.
Dr. Drew Schneider’s presence at Family Dentistry has ushered in a new era of energy and excitement. He looks forward to continuing the legacy that Dr. Ray and Dr. Gilpin worked so hard to build while also introducing the practice to new technologies and procedures. Together, Dr. Ray and Dr. Schneider continue to serve the dental needs of the Ashland City community and constantly promote their mission: at Family Dentistry, our patients are truly our family.
